About David O’Meara

A successful NH jockey for 13 years, David rode for Tim Easterby and had a successful partnership with a number of very good horses including Turgeonev and Bells Life – The latter providing him with a notable success in the Foxhunters’ at Aintree in April 2000. In 2010 he entered the training ranks and within a decade had amassed over 1000 winners, making him one of the quickest ever to reach that milestone in Britain. 

With over 100 winners on the board for 11 consecutive seasons since his maiden century in 2013, David has become well known for sending out large numbers of winners alongside several top-level performers. Group 1 success both domestically and internationally has been provided by Suedois, G Force, Move In Time, Amazing Maria, Mondialiste, Lord Glitters, and most recently Estrange, who became his first Irish Group 1 winner when taking the Pretty Polly in June 2026.

Based at his purpose-built training facility on the 120 acre Willow Farm just outside of York, David has developed one of the top training facilities in the country and has added to his reputation for transforming the fortunes of horses from elsewhere by increasing the number of young horses in his care with over twenty two-year-old winners sent out in 2021.
