Glorious Glitters blasts home in Balmoral!
23rd October 2017
Lord Glitters rounded off Champions Day at Ascot with a devastating turn of foot to land the Balmoral Handicap. Having only his second start for Team O’Meara, Lord Glitters went off 3/1 favourite having shown a glimpse of what was to come when finishing second in the Challenge Cup two weeks earlier.
The Geoff Turnbull owned grey gelding was held up last in the early stages and travelled well throughout. Buried behind a wall of horses with two furlongs to go things were not looking too good for Danny Tudhope. Danny switched left, which proved to be a race winning manoeuvre with just over a furlong to go and Lord Glitters quickened instantly to get his head in front in the nick of time.
Lord Glitters was bought by David and Jason at the Arqana July Sale. It is a sale that has been very successful for both trainer and owner in the past as Mondialiste was acquired at the same sale two years ago. Lord Glitters’ win could not have come at a more appropriate time as earlier in the week Mondialiste was retired to Mr Turnbulls Elwick Stud to begin his stud career.
Lord Glitters will have plenty of options going forward and will keep the Turnbull pink and navy colours flying on the International circuit.
